Easy Oven Baked Ribs
Fall off the bone ribs roasted in the oven are easy, delicious and perfect for any occasion
Equipment
- Aluminum foil
- Heavy duty sheet pan
Ingredients
- 4 lbs. pork baby back or St. Louis style ribs (1 pound per person)
Rib Dry Rub
- 2 tablespoons Kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon onion salt
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare sheet pan by lining with aluminum foil for easy cleaning. Pat ribs dry and place rib side up on foil-lined sheet pan.

- Use a sharp knife to loosen the edge of the silver skin on the rib side.

- Grasp the loosened edge of the silver skin with a paper towel and pull to remove it the length of the ribs.

- It may take one or two attempts to remove it all.

- Set prepared ribs aside while preparing the Rib Dry Rub.

Rib Dry Rub
- Add all ingredients to a small bowl.

- Whisk together to combine thoroughly.

Prepare Ribs for Oven
- Heat oven to 400 degrees. Prepare the top foil that will fit over the ribs after an initial roasting time. You will want the top foil to dome up a bit so it does not sit directly on the ribs once you cover them. Set the top foil aside. Doing this ahead of time makes placing the top foil on the hot sheet pan full of ribs much easier.
- Sprinkle Rib Dry Rub on rib side of the rack of ribs.

- Rub seasoning onto the entire surface to coat completely.

- Turn ribs over and sprinkle meaty side with seasoning and coat completely.

- Roast ribs, uncovered, at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes.

- Remove from oven and lower oven temperature to 325 degrees. Cover ribs with the top foil your prepared earlier. The top foil should not touch the ribs.

- Seal the top foil and return to oven for 2 to 2½ hours. Check for doneness by wiggling a rib bone. Bone should move easily and meat should release from the bone easily.

- Remove from oven and remove foil. Heat oven to 425 degrees.

- Return to oven for about 10 minutes, it may still be preheating to 425 degrees.

- Remove from oven and let stand about 5 minutes. Turn ribs so that bone side is up.

- Use sharp knife to cut between ribs to serve. Enjoy!
